What is VetTriage?

VetTriage is an educational, proactive wellness, resource referral app that strives to help Veterans overcome adversity and thrive. The App allows users to triage their moods, stressors, activities, and the severity of their impact. We will respect your privacy as all information will be kept confidential.

Why did we build this app?

Hoplite created VetTriage to reduce the stigma attached to the act of veterans seeking help after going through traumatic experiences. The App helps improve overall Veteran Health.

Who is it for?

The app is for all Veterans who want to build resiliency and improve their overall mental health.

How do I create an account?

Creating an account is simple and easy! Go to the App Store or Google Play on your mobile device and type VetTriage in the search bar. Once you’ve found the app, click on it, and start downloading.

Open the app and create your very own account to get started!

How is the app used?

The App enables a user to conduct targeted wellness interventions while utilizing the four stages of self-tracking: preparation, collection, reflection, and action.

  • Track your wellness status - Veterans/first responders triage their mood, stressors, and life events to reflect on health and emotional trends. This way veterans can proactively prepare, collect, reflect, and take action about their mental, physical, and social wellbeing.

  • Engage with other Veterans - VetTriage allows Veterans to share posts, communicate, and connect with other users. Veterans/first responders can enter into a planned program of wellness where they can earn wellness points, enter competitions, and ultimately improve overall attitude and behavior.

  • Explore and improve knowledge and skills related to Veteran health resources, Veteran mental health interventions, and available Veteran health services.

  • Receive technical support - A dedicated Hoplite Customer Success Manager will help ensure the long-term success of the app by working with users to ensure that they are receiving the best outcomes.

Proactive Veteran Wellness

Veterans Day 2020 marks another anniversary of honoring those who have served in America’s military. The time honored tradition began with a proclamation from President Woodrow Wilson on the first anniversary of the end of World War I. He declared that “the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service.”

Since then, Americans have expanded the observance of this day to include all who have served their country in uniform. Sadly, we have also come to recognize how many Veterans still grapple with issues like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and depression. These conditions often are difficult to recognize and treat, and they contribute to increased rates of substance abuse and suicide among our Veterans.

Hoplite Resilience Center is committed to support Veterans from all eras and service members as they make the transition to civilian life. This Veterans Day we are launching the innovative mobile platform VetTriage, which was designed to strengthen wellness, veteran health, veteran mental health, and healthy behaviors. The App VetTriage leverages the four stages of self tracking with mobile technologies and validated resources to address wellness challenges and social determinants of health, including employment, housing, fitness, and community.

Veteran Health

The United States has become a country that is constantly at war. This situation has created a crisis amongst our veterans. The current uneven access to appropriate Veteran mental health services that returning U.S. veterans encounter echoes the disparities in access to quality mental health services for the general population. There are shortcomings of our health care system in addressing Veteran mental health needs for our returning service members that may lead to high suicide rates. Addressing the problem of inadequate access to quality mental health services is critical in any efforts to reforming the U.S. health care system as well as addressing the shortcomings seen with Veteran Mental Health services.

Mental Health

Research has shown that mental health disparities are often a leading factor to the high suicide rates among veterans who experience depression and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. To improve overall Veteran health and well—being of our heroes who have served this nation, requires a collaboration between public and non—profit mental health providers at the Federal, State, and local levels. It is imperative that we increase the availability of crisis intervention, Veteran health programs, and mental health services for all veterans that have served this nation.

Veteran Health Services

To support this collaboration, we launched the VetTriage App to help provide an innovative platform to connect Veterans to mental health services, vetted Veteran health programs, and other resources. VetTriage allows a veteran to triage his or her mood and target wellness interventions while utilizing the four stages of self-tracking: preparation, collection, reflection, and action. The ultimate objective of our App is to improve Veteran health and Veteran Mental Health outcomes.
